 Welcome to Ozira! 1

Writer: Sai KattaSai Katta

Welcome to Ozira! Ozira lies within the mighty embrace of the North Pacific Gyre, between the equator and the northern bounds of 50°, near the lands of Australia. Here, the skies bless us with warmth, as temperatures range between 75° and 90°F. Our kingdom flourishes with a people numbering 35,000 souls, and by decree of law, all are granted a canine companion. The bond with dogs is sacred, and to harm or eat such noble creatures brings the shadow of death upon the offender. Our fields are covered with lush grasses for the dogs, and rivers encircle the land to quench their thirst. As of the year 2024, no fewer than 37,000 dogs roam our domain.

The kingdom was founded by Tinsley, who often visits but does not stay for long. Today, the throne is held by King Sai Katta, who ensures the kingdom's prosperity and traditions endure.

The capital of our realm is Navnalin. Westward lies Nail City, home to a wondrous marvel—an edifice that commands the forces of the sun and moon to uphold amethyst orbs in ethereal dance. Southward from Nail City rests CaB City, and farther south, Fay City, where four volcanoes slumber. Navnalin itself boasts one fiery mountain, as does AB City to the east, yet the flames remain guarded.

Flag: Upon our banner is a triangle, reflecting the steadfast and vigilant spirit of dogs—a symbol of eternal loyalty. Alongside it, three entwined circles speak of kinship and harmony, unyielding between man and hound. Together, these emblems pay tribute to the bond we cherish.

Government: Ozira thrives as a democracy, where peace reigns and voices are heard. Our election day, called Ozlection Day, is a solemn affair. Citizens write their votes on cloth dyed with fruits—pomegranate and mango being favored. These fabrics are placed into a sacred barrel, guarded by the mightiest hounds. The color most vibrant claims victory, and the chosen leader oversees trade—the lifeblood of our survival.

Language and Culture: The tongue of Ozira weaves 'Oz' into its words, guided by rules based on length:

  • Words shorter than 5 letters: 'Oz' appears after the third letter.

  • Words between 5 and 9 letters: 'Oz' appears after the fifth letter.

  • Words between 10 and 14 letters: 'Oz' appears after the tenth letter.

  • Words 15 or more letters: 'Oz' appears after every fifth letter.

Examples: "sun" → "sOzun" "beautiful" → "beauOztiOful" "understand" → "undeOzstand" "misunderstanding" → "misunderOzstandinOzg"

Dogs are the cornerstone of our customs, and reverence for them is our creed. Each citizen bears a tattoo to mark their bond with Ozira, sealing their connection to this sacred isle.

Food: Chief among our delicacies are tater tots, served in grand size and smothered in cheese. These are staples at gatherings—whether lessons taught in homes or celebrations upon green hills.

A treasure of our land is the "Mango Java Burst"—a treat layered with succulent mango, rich coffee, and more mango, a symphony of flavor in every bite. Each wrapper proclaims, “Island energy in every bite!”

Religion: Our divine protector, Anisara, bestows fortune upon us. In homage, we light candles daily, letting their flames dance for seven breaths before snuffing them out. Missed devotions require penance, doubling the time upon return. If a year passes without devotion, a flame must burn for 42 minutes and 35 seconds, lest misfortune shadow the soul. Candles rest upon light green sunset circles, and prayers end with patterns decreed by sacred texts.

Economics: Trade is the heart of Ozira, for ours is an isle that relies on its own bounty. We barter and bargain, guided by leaders chosen through Ozlection.

Our coin, the Ozirian Dollar (OZI), holds twice the value of foreign gold. Thus, what costs $5 USD demands 10 OZI, and a single Canadian Dollar equals 2 OZI. Such is the standard inscribed upon our land.

Let these words echo in your hearts, and may the hounds ever guard our kingdom’s soul.
